Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College was established in the year 1970 as a result of growing public demand from the entire Dhekiajuli area. A wholehearted collective effort of the people of entire Dhekiajuli area aspiring for higher education resulted in the birth of this College.

The Department of NEPALI was intrduced from the academic session 1977 since there was high public demand for Nepali. Sri Kula Prasad Sarma joined the department in november 1977 as the founder teacher and there were about 100 students in the department in that year. Sri Chandra Sekhar Upadhyaya joined the department as 2nd man in August,1992. Since its inception department is growing in respect of enrollment and academics.
