Career Counselling Programme

Career Counselling programme on Civil Services Examination – May 2024 A career counselling programme on Civil Services Examination was organized on 14/05/2024 by the Entrepreneurship, Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College with collaboration of Civil Services Collaboration Point, Guwahati and under the aegis of IQAC Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College. Sukdev Adhikari, President of the GB, LOKD College , Dr. Jogendra Saikia , as resource person and Nareswar Upadhyay , VC nominee of the GB, LOKD College joined the ceremony.  This was followed by felicitation of the guest with Phulam Gamosa. Principal Dr Sukdev Adhikari in his brief welcome speech urged upon the students to utilise the opportunity and get focused on career.   Deva Kr. Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur could not make it physically to the program  and  sent video message to motivate the students. Dr. Jogendra Saikia also spoke on the occasion and emphasized the need for presentation to compete for civil services examination. Nareswar Upadhyay in his speech stated that civil services are not beyond preparation and only way out is planning. Pranabjyoti Nath, MD Kanoka Village resort shared his life journey and highlighted the importance of being an entrepreneur in today’s competitive world. Mishra Deputy Commisioner, Sonitpur           Abhijit Rajbongshi, senior faculty, CSAP then took the stage and made a highly motivated presentation. He stressed the need of a focused goal and continuous preparation right through the graduation period. Jeipul Reece Kalita HoD CSAP in his presentation stressed the importance of choosing a career goal and pursuing that goal with proper planning and guidance. He also offered to help the aspiring students. This was followed by a lively interactive session wherein some students asked questions regarding civil services examination, syllabus and preparation for it . In the closing session certificates were distributed by Principal LOKD College Dr Sukdev Adhikari, Dr. Kantar Bhushan Nandi, Dr. Tulan Mochahary and Dr. Jyotshna Baruah. The program came to an end with vote of thanks offered by Dr. Jyotshna Baruah , Coordinator IQAC. Folk dance workshop

Bhasa Sahitya Sanskriti Addhyan Mancha, IQAC, and Women Cell of Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College , Dhekiajuli organized an 8 day folk-dance workshop on Jhumur, Bwisagu, Deusi and Bihu to provide an opportunity for learning various dance forms to the students of the college. The workshop was formally in-augurated by Dr Jogendra Saikia , president , Governing Body , Lokonayak Omeo Kumar Das College. Dr Sukdev Adhikari , principal of LOKD College , spoke briefly on the occasion and expressed hope that similar kinds of programs would be initiated in the near future with greater ambiance to meet the interest of students. The inaugural program was attended by the faculty, students and resource persons. After the inaugural session, resource persons  Bhadreswar Rajowar and Sabita Rajowar provided preliminary training with a practical session accompanied by musicians. Hundreds of participants participated in the workshop.

75th Republic Day Celebration

Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College celebrated 75th Republic Day of India with much gaiety and fervour. The entire institution decked up for the auspicious occasion with cadets preparing for the D day. In the morning all cadets smartly turned out in uniform, full of energy and vigor for the program . Principal Dr Sukdev Adhikari was taken to the flag mast by NCC pilots . In presence of GB president Dr. Jogendra Saikia , 45 teachers, office staff, library staff , students, representative of student union, ex – cadets unfurled the national flag and everyone joined in singing the national anthem. This was followed by a brief speech by Principal and president GB . Both of them spoke on the significance of the day. ANO Capt. Dr. Jyotshna Baruah in her speech stressed on the importance of imbibing constitutional values . Light refreshments were provided to all at the end. Cadets then proceeded to Shahid Maidan to take part in the centrally organized function. UO Monita Devi and UO Urvashi Boro as first and second commander of the parade held there received certificate from Circle Officer , Dhekiajuli. Cadets put up a grand show along with gun drill . Entire exercise was supervised by ANO Capt . Dr. Jyotshna Baruah and ANO Lt. Dr. Pitambar Sedai.

3 NCC cadets has been selected for RDC 2024

  It is a matter of immense pride for Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College Dhekiajuli that 3 NCC cadets from this institute has been selected for RDC 2024 . .They are namely CUO Rajdeep Hazarika bearing regimental no AS21/SDA/110885 , CUO Berlina Deka , regimental no, AS21/SWA/115215 and Mansa Boro , regimental no , AS2022/SWA/00058 . After a rigorous selection process through 4 PreRDC they got selected for the prestigious RDC .Representing NER Directorate these three cadets from LOKD College will take part in parade at Kartabya Path on 26 January as well as PM rally. LOKD College has a vibrant NCC wing being looked after by ANO , Capt. Dr. Jyotshna Baruah and ANO Lt. Pitambar Sedai . College provides all kinds of cooperation to run NCC activities in the college as well as reaching out to the community . Principal Dr. Sukdev Adhikar is very much enthusiastic about promoting NCC activities as motivational factor for other other students. Through this platform every year a good number of cadets get employment in defence and paramilitary forces through their training in NCC. Getting selected for RDC itself is a matter of pride .Achievements of cadets this year will definitely be a motivational factor for other cadets and students of LOKD College.
